Finals

For my final photo i wanted to show that it is quite relfective and that there is alot of stuff in the middle of it.
Unfortunatly there are some broken bits of my model in the center. This was from cleaning the real tight spaces.

 Final photo

I really like how my render came out. I think that the idea of valuable and expensive is shown well. I think that it looks quite realistic with the reflections and shadows

Final render

Here are my final for project 3

Final 3

I think that just from these images even without much light looks valuable and how i want them to come across

Gold and Silver are used in all 3 models and i have glass and grome in the two which came from the atom
For my finals i want my materials to have as valuable metals.

development 4

I think the scene i have works well for how i am trying to get my point across

Becuase i want to show that my models are valuable i want to have them in some sort of case in a show room.

Next i decided to focus on the scene for my final render

My model came out quite well

development 3

I had to get rid of the center oval because it made it to condensed in the middle

After my model was printed all the sides were to thin and they all snapped when i was trying to clean it so i had to redo my model and make all the sides thicker

I decided to have this model as my final

To make it look even better i decided to put a sort of cage around it which would hold it all in place

After talking with Richard (my tutor) he gave me the idea copying and twisting my model around each other

development 2

These are 2 different possible texture styles i am thinking of having

I decided on a hexagon texture and make it go right around the
I started adding textures to my first model.

I just copied and inverted my model. I like how the ball is in the middle and acts kind of like a core

On my second model i did some small changes to make it look better

development

I only really need to have one solid works part becuase i can make the rest of it in 3DS max

I then started doing the other image in solid works

I really like this object and i am thinking of having this as my final model.

When i was done with these 3 i exported then into 3DS max

All of the ovals are slightly smaller than each other

I started with the oval rings.

After i have chosen the images which i am going to expand on i put them into solidworks

Patterns

Here are some images which could be a good idea for a pattern

I really want to have some sort of patten when goes right around my model. Something to make it seem not as smooth.

Quick sketches

The two image which that are like an atom i am thinking of combining and making a model which has aspects of both sketches in it

These are the 3 images which i am going to expand on for my project 3

Here are some quick 2D sketches for what i am thinking of maybe doing for project 3

project 3 precedent images

My final image is for focusing on what i want the materials on my object to look like on the computer. I want to make it something valuable. And when i think of valuable and expensive i always think of gold and silver. So for my final render i want to make it look like something which would be worth a lot of money and to be cherished.

For the image of the spider i was thinking of making something that has a core in the middle and stuff that branches out of it like the spiders legs. Unlike this image though i would want the core to be elevated and be supported by the legs
 Image 5

For this image i was thinking of having a shape like this but condensing it a bit. I want to keep the nucleus of the atom and have the 3 rings around it but all on the same plane instead of like the image about and have them in different directions.

Image 4

Picture 2 and 3 are linked together. I really like the idea of spirals and how they are quite hard to make 3D. When i was picturing something which i could make from this image i had the idea of having something like the spiral staircase and having 2 or 3 of them combined together so they look like several different spirals in one.

Image 2

My first image is from the xbox 360 game Halo 3. The image about is symmetrical so it would be easier to make on solid works. All of the parts coming out of the center are curved. I like this because i could imagine making something which started off at the base and then curves up around it.

Image 1

For project 3 i wanted to do something which i could only do in 3D printing and no other program. So for my precedent images i wanted them to have shapes which would be hard to do some other way

3D prints

I really like the idea that with 3D printing you can do things which you wouldn't be able to do with other programs or by hand. So for project 3 i want to do something like that.

I did a google search on 3D printed objects to see what kind of things you can make from 3D printing and here are some of the images which i found which i think are quite interesting

FInals

My render came out like i wanted my model to. I decided not to have the wooden background because in my render i wanted to have a more reflective background and the wood also didnt work well with the light.

When putting my model together the top circle snapped and i couldn't use it so i had to make it without it. I still think that it came out really good. A bit of the middle ring also snaped so when i took the photo i took it away from the crack.
I like my photo because there is a gradient to the light and the model also reflects off the bottom which i think it really cool
Here are my 2 Finals.

Sunday, 18 September 2011

To get over that problem i just expanded the board so when i zoomed in on my model so there wasn't that problem that i had before

In our last tutorial we were shown how to make a more realistic look to our model. We were shown how to somewhat copy the boards in the photography studios.
I decided to make the board to have a wooden look. When i rendered my model i found out that there were like patches of wood and you could see the lines between the patches and it looked weird when close up

I think the copper colour for the ball looks good because it stands out in my render. As you can kind of see the colour of the ball is being reflected of the sides and the circles. I really like how it does that and that is what i am trying to do for my final render

This is how my render came out. I like how it looks. Im trying to get a glass look to my model and have something in the middle to kind of radiate like a light bulb

When finding a good way to present my model i first decided to just have it on a plane and have boxes surrounding it with lights also shinning onto the the model

Next i decided to do the 2 circles. I did these before the sides just in case they didn't fit with each other. The middle one didn't fit properly so i did have to expand it so that it would fit

I started with the base and then have the sides. On the base i put the engravings on them but when they were rendered you couldn't see it that well. Because of this i decided not to put the engravings on each of the 4 sides

I decided to do my final render on 3DS max. Because i thought it was to hard to make some of the shapes of 3DS max i decided to first make each part in solid works and then transfer the part to solid works. I did this for all of the parts for my model.

Solid works

Putting them together on 3DS max was kind of like how i put them together in real life after they were cut

Before exporting my parts into 3DS max i made all of them on solid works. I did this because it was easier to make all the parts on there and then bring them to 3DS max to do the final render.
